Rescue Emergency Care (REC)
The REC first aid course is not carpet first aid!!
This is practical treatments in the outdoors. There are classroom based sessions, but putting it into practice is in the big outdoors [our 35 acres of grounds actually] rain, wind or shine. We have trainers who have a wealth of instructing and mountain rescue experience. No technical jargon and fancy bandaging - stuff that works in the wild. You'll need your waterproofs, a karrimat and some drama skills.
There are no prerequisites for the course which is recognised by the Mountain Leader Training Board (MLTB), British Canoe Union (BCU), Royal Yachting Association (RYA).
The first Aid course covers modules such as;
- Environmental injury and rescue modules.
- Stretchers and carries.
- How to deal with an emergency far from medical help.
- Scenarios. [The helicopter crash is a real test!.......]
- Use of improvised techniques and an introduction to rescue equipment.
- Resuscitation.
Plus many others that you could come across when out with a group.
The course is 2 over days , (16hours) and runs one weekend in January, watch this space for future dates.
[Charge covers full board from Sat am to Sun pm. Accomaodation on Fri night possible.]
