New EXTREME Nightline

Marle Hall is in the process of revamping the nightline to bring it into the 21st century. You’ll have to come and explore the undergrowth of Marle Hall and see where it may take you, fight your way over, under and through obstacles.

The aim of the nightline is to make individuals aware of their other senses and to see the benefits of clear and effective communication. In revamping it we believe that individuals will benefit more than in the past, as it requires more thinking. It is also more fun! See if your up to the challenge.

Eco-Centre

Eco-centre is a project that has been set up so that outdoor centre's can see the impact that they are having on the environment and take action to reduce this. It follows the Eco-schools model to encourage people to take responsibility for the impact they are having on the environment. Already 171 (69 percent) of Warwickshire's schools are registered as Eco-schools and 89 (52 per cent) of those registered have received awards. The program at Marle Hall has been designed so that environmental awareness can be made an intrinsic part of centre life for staff and visitors. Once status has been recognised the centre will receive green flag status.

Marle Hall is in the process of striving for eco-centre status, in order to do this there are a number of objectives that need to be achieved. Throughout your stay there are a number of things that you as a group can do to help the process along, we will inform you these on arrival but they mainly include recycling your rubbish, reducing the amount of electricity and water that you use and reducing the amount of waste that you produce.

John Muir Award

The John Muir Award is an environmental awareness award scheme that focuses on getting people to appreciate wild places. The award encourages individuals to discover, explore, conserve and share the magic of wild places, whether this is a mountain top or a city garden. The award aims to provide the individuals to discover and conserve wide places while having fun.

In order to complete each section of the award then there are four challenges that need to be completed, these have been specifically designed to promote a holistic approach to environmental awareness.

The John Muir Award can be offered at Marle Hall alongside a multi activity week, we can adapt your course very slightly to ensure that it meets the four aspects of the criteria. This will mean that each person will leave us with a certificate to show what they have been doing. Here at Marle Hall we cater for the first level of the award, we believe this will provide young people with the basis to progress further with the award.

For more information about the award visit www.jmt.org/home.asp or to enquire about adding it to your program contact the centre directly and speak to Helena Winston.
